IO2018 – XIX Congress of the Portuguese Association of Operational Research

The main objective of this conference is the dissemination of the work developed by all the community related, in some manner, to Operational Research, namely, faculty members, personnel from different types of organizations and students.

The use of Operational Research methods, models and techniques to address complex problems, many of which related to real life situations within organizations, contributes to the improvement of the efficiency, competitiveness and sustainability of those organizations and of society as a whole.

In IO2018 the idea is to reinforce the importance of OR for adding value to different sectors of society as well as show how it can increase its impact in the future, encompassing new areas.

Authors are thus encouraged to participate by submitting their work, in Portuguese or in English. More information can be found on the conference website: http://apdio.pt/en/web/io2018 .

The conference also includes EstudIO, a session directed at undergraduate and graduate students, with the purpose of showcasing the work developed by them, within the scope of OR.

The winners of the APDIO/IO2018 award for the best PhD thesis presented during 2017, and the Augusto Queiróz Novais award in Process Systems Engineering for the best paper published in 2017 in the area of Process Systems Engineering, will be announced during the conference.
