Assistant Professor of Enterprise Systems Design – Cal Poly

The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo, invites qualified applications for a full-time, tenure-track, academic year faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in the area of Enterprise Systems Design beginning Fall 2022.  We are seeking candidates with teaching and research interests in one or more of the following areas: information systems for production or service operations; cloud-based data management systems; manufacturing execution systems; sustainable/resilient systems; risk management; modeling and design of systems for healthcare, energy, transportation, finance, socio-technical services, or other applications.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in industrial and manufacturing engineering, establish an externally-funded research program, contribute to mentoring students, contribute to an inclusive and welcoming community, and provide services to the department, the college, the university, and the community.

Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, data science, or a closely related field is required by the start time of the appointment.  Candidates must have a strong commitment to inclusive teaching excellence and laboratory-based instruction and a broad-based knowledge of industrial or manufacturing engineering. Demonstrated ability in written and oral use of the English language is required.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills: Candidates with significant experience in working with underrepresented students in research, teaching, service, advising, mentoring or community engagement are preferred. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and a commitment to working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting.
