Theme
The agriculture and tourism sectors are of great economic importance for many countries worldwide. Both sectors contribute to economic growth, new job positions and public revenue. Some of their characteristics are the private entrepreneurship dominating in agriculture and tourism, the potential linkages between two sectors, the prospects that new technology offers, the risky environment and the high competiveness that entrepreneurs face, the various factors influencing the final product, along with the implementation of governmental or institutional policies which affect business opportunities. The need for scientific approaches which can handle such issues has already arisen. This book aims to provide a roadmap for researchers and practitioners and to highlight the role and importance of operational research, new technologies and innovation for the benefit of agriculture and tourism in the private and/or public level. Review and conceptual papers are also welcomed, as well as relevant applications to the aforementioned economic sectors.
