Profile: The Hellenic Operational Research Society (HELORS) founded over 50 years ago aiming to promote the tools and methodologies of Operational Research (OR) and Scientific Management for the benefit of the Greek economy and society. In addition HELORS aims to support networking and develop cooperation between researchers from these fields.

HELORS organized twenty five (25) National Conferences, with large participation of both scientific and business communities (more than 4,500 participants and 1000 announcements), as well as three (3) International and four (4) Balkan Conferences. Among those conferences was: the 12th International Conference of the International Federation of OR Societies (Athens, 1990) and the 20th European Operational Research Societies (EURO) Conference (Rhodes, 2004).

From 2001, HELORS publishes with Springer the scientific journal “Operational Research: An International Journal” (ORIJ) (http://www.springer.com/business&management/operations+ research/journal/12351).

HELORS, as a member of EURO and IFORS, aims to establish strong and robust bonds with businesses and organizations by educating senior executives and disseminating the experience and knowledge gained in its conferences and workshops.
