ICORD 2015, with the theme “OR: Enabling Good Governance”, was held in Usvatakeiyawa, Sri Lanka on 3rd and 4th December 2015. This was the 9th ICORD, and the first OR conference held in the island, laying the foundation for the Operations Research Society of Sri Lanka. Palm Village Hotel provided the ideal surrounding for collaboration among OR professionals, practitioners, and students representing 11 nationalities.
The two day conference co-hosted by the EURO Working Group on ORD and the University of Moratuwa featured three plenary speakers Kirit Shantilal Parikh form Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe), New Delhi, India; Nina Kajiji from the University of Rhode Island, USA; and Ali from Aston University, UK. Presenters of papers were given feedback by fellow delegates. DEA papers were given expert advise by guest speaker Emrouznejad. A total of 24 participants attended the conference which included a half day city tour in Colombo on December 2 and a farewell dinner.
