The Faculty of Economics & Business is looking for an outstanding Professor in Operations Research. The Professor will be
part of the Operations Management group and will contribute to research and teaching in deterministic and stochastic OR.
Preferably, the candidate applies Operations Research in supply chain management, production planning, inventory control,
logistics, scheduling, transportation and/or service optimisation.
Candidates should have frequently published in international top journals, should have excellent course evaluations and
should be open to collaboration with the industry.
The appointee should have the following qualifications and experience:
– PhD in operations research or related field;
– Publications in leading international journals;
– Excellent teaching evaluations;
– Successfully supervised PhD students;
– Open to working with the industry;
– Team player with good communication skills;
– Fluent in English.
The department works closely with the Operations Research group in the Mathematics Department at the University of
Amsterdam, e.g. in joint research and PhD projects.
Also, the department actively participates in Amsterdam Data Science (ADS), a cooperation on data science and artificial
intelligence between the Computer Science, Statistics and Mathematics Departments of the University of Amsterdam, the
VU Amsterdam, the University of Applied Sciences and the Dutch National Research Centre for Mathematics and Computer
Science (CWI).
In addition, the school is affiliated with the Tinbergen Institute (TI), a cooperation between the universities in Amsterdam
and the Erasmus University Rotterdam. TI offers a Research Masters in Business Analytics and yearly attracts applications
from international top students that want to prepare for a PhD.
